Kurtis Eugene is in studio writing and recording and working through his process, bringing in great musicians and sorting through chaos. Choral music has been inspiring him recently, and he’s playing hours of pump organ. Keep your ears open for the new Kurtis Eugene release.

November Remastered

The album “November” was an honest try at capturing some quiet.
Like the sea foam that’s stuck in the dark part in the back of the head.
I bought six packs of Camels and a jar of cheap whisky,
stuffed the ’99 with every instrument I own and drove the speed limit
from Fredericton NB to a steep hill near Picto NS.
Someone had put a log cabin 40 acres deep,
and the town ran power to it with a few poles and some wire.
I had just enough electric to make a record,
my cat George to keep me company, and a few ideas.

Why not give me roses?
Why not give me roses?
instead of these clouds

I don’t feel like i do anything
I don’t feel like i can do everything
So why try?

East Coast multi-instrumentalist and indie-folk artist Kurtis Eugene composes music that captures the imagination and moves the spirit. Audiences have compared his rich sound to artists such as Fleet Foxes and Shakey Graves. Self-producing four albums, Kurtis’ latest work, Old Rooms, New Light (Nov. 2016), captures the evolution of this young artist’s songwriting with it’s poignant lyricism, heavy choral harmonies and orchestral influence.

In 2017, Kurtis emerged from his performance hiatus to perform three tours between The Maritimes and Ontario with appearances at Harvest Jazz & Blues, Flourish, Folly Fest and The Capital Project. He has shared the stage with notable musicians including Motherhood, The Olympic Symphonium and The Hypochondriacs. Whether performing solo or with the full band, Kurtis Eugene’s extreme passion is known to take the listener on a journey through the entire emotional spectrum.

‘Old Rooms New Light’ is clearly the product of a long, focused writing and recording process…each track is a thoughtfully crafted audio experience.” – The East Mag (New Brunswick)
“I would give everything away to experience the level of intense emotion and connection Eugene invests in song. His muse must be great to elicit such heartfelt, plain-spoken poetry.” – Jim Di Gioia (Dominionated)
